Our Story
A ray of light in the heart of General Luna — where every stranger becomes a surf buddy and every sunset becomes a memory.
Where It All Started
The name says it all. Sinag — the Filipino word for a ray of light — is exactly what this place set out to be: a warm, welcoming beam for travelers arriving on Siargao's shores looking for more than just a bed.
Sinag Hostel was born from a deep love for the island of Siargao and a belief that the best way to experience it is together. From the very beginning, the goal was simple: create a space where solo travelers feel at home the moment they arrive, where surf beginners and seasoned wave-riders share stories over meals, and where the local community is as much a part of the experience as the waves themselves.
Located in General Luna — the beating heart of Siargao — Sinag Hostel sits close to the famous surf breaks, island restaurants, and all the little adventures that make Siargao unforgettable. We're not just a hostel. We're a base camp for your island story.
How We Think
Three pillars that shape every decision we make at Sinag — from how we design our spaces to how we welcome every guest.
Every design decision, every event, every partnership — all of it starts from a simple question: does this bring people closer together? The common areas, the surf sessions, the snack bar, the local perks — they're all built to turn strangers into friends and friends into a Sinag Fam.
Siargao is one of the world's great surfing destinations, and Sinag was born from that culture. Through Sinag Surf Club, guests can learn, progress, and share the waves in a safe, encouraging environment. Whether you're catching your first wave or chasing your hundredth — the ocean is always the centerpiece.
Sinag isn't just in Siargao — it is Siargao. Our partnerships with local cafes, restaurants, and gyms through the Sinag Perks program bring guests closer to the real fabric of General Luna. We believe the island's best experiences aren't in guidebooks — they're in the people and places we connect you with.

The Journey
From a single idea to a thriving island community — here's how Sinag has grown.
Doors open in General Luna, Siargao — a hostel built around the idea that real travel happens when people come together. The name Sinag — ray of light — becomes a promise to every traveler who checks in.
The surf school arm takes shape, offering beginner-to-intermediate surf lessons and group sessions in the warm waters around General Luna. The community-based approach quickly earns a loyal following.
An on-site cafe joins the Sinag family, giving guests fresh meals and a gathering point that makes brunch at Sinag a ritual as essential as morning surf. The Sinag world now has three pillars: sleep, surf, and eat.
Partnerships with General Luna's best cafes, restaurants, and gyms create an exclusive perks ecosystem for Sinag guests — turning a hostel stay into a full island lifestyle experience.
With over 2,600 Instagram followers and 7,600+ Facebook community members, the Sinag Fam keeps getting bigger. Listed on Hostelworld, Booking.com, Expedia, Agoda, and more — the world has found its Siargao home.
The Sinag Vibe
There's a particular kind of magic that happens at Sinag that's hard to describe but impossible to forget. It's the random dorm conversation that turns into a three-day friendship. The "Tara surf?" mornings where four strangers paddle out together. The brunch that stretches into an afternoon of kwentuhan — stories shared over food and cold drinks.
Siargao is already beautiful. But sharing it with the right people? That's different. At Sinag, we believe the hostel isn't just where you sleep — it's where your island memories are made.
Beyond the hostel, we connect you to the whole General Luna experience: surfskate afternoons in Malinao, sunset views from the water tank, island-hopping to Naked Island, Daku Island, and Guyam. We know the island, and we want you to know it too.
